s a
school we emphasize the individualized, self-paced learning of physical
and social skills within all of our classes. Our programs provide
experience to guide and stimulate the growth and development which leads to the "whole" person both
physically and emotionally. We nurture learning traits which will carry over into
other areas of life.
All classes whether beginning or advanced, offer
a "natural" outlet for the students individual skill and development.
At AMERICAN, our teams give
students the opportunity to receive special training which will help them
reach their full potential in a safe and encouraging
environment. At American Institute of
Gymnastics we believe that...
Gymnastics gives you special
qualities. The sport of gymnastics has many hard and difficult skills
which take a long time to master. Most people would never try it. Many,
who try, give up after a while. Some fall, or make a mistake, and never
try again. Others want to take this challenge… That is
why we believe that you are special! This your joy. This is why you have
such pride in yourself. Many gymnastic skills require a long time to
learn. Much practice is needed. If you try to go too fast, you might get
frustrated. So, you learn to practice slowly, day by day, step by step. It
takes much patience, and you are learning what patience is all about. You
are learning some other things also… At American Institute of Gymnastics I am learning… … to imagine things
I could not imagine before. I am imagining myself doing things that I
could not have dreamed of doing only a short time ago.
… I have many talents and abilities. I
am learning to develop my talents. I am learning this through training.
Through training and practice, I can see myself growing and becoming what
I desire to be as a gymnast. …about self -respect and pride. I am
learning I can do things, even very difficult things, if I put my mind to
it. Before, I didn’t have goals, but now I have set challenging goals for
myself. I am proud of myself because I have set some very high goals for
myself. My coaches at American Institute
of Gymnastics emphasize that…
…the fun is in
trying and doing new things. It is fun to challenge myself and see what I
can do!!
…when I try
something new. I don’t always succeed the first time. However, with
practice and repetition, I am learning I can do new things - if I keep on
trying.
At American Institute of
Gymnastics I am taught that… …success or failure
may not always be the most important thing. Many times trying is the most
important thing. It doesn’t always matter if I win, as long as I try. I
may lose or fall today, but tomorrow I will be more experienced and
wiser.
…persistence makes
winners. Things of value have a price, which usually takes some hard work.
It is over time, I begin to see my growth.
…the joy of my own
personal accomplishment, is most important. I like the chance to excel and
show what I can do. Being the best I can be makes me proud.
…the lessons I learn at American Institute of
Gymnastics can be applied to the rest of my
life.
